Play = A freely chosen consciousness intent on the enjoyable and non-traditional use of resources primarily committed to instrumental purposes. This is best realized when personal conflicts have been resolved. (to put it simply, play = goofying off) . To engage in sport or lively recreation ,to exercise for the sake of amusement ,to frolic to spot . To engage in, or go together with, as a contest for amusement or for a wager or prize; as, to play a game at baseball. Amusement; sport; frolic; gambols.
Any exercise, or series of actions, intended for amusement or diversion; a game.
Game = The voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles-hindrances. (I have borrowed here from Suits)
Sport = A roughly balanced commitment to play and to successfully overcoming unnecessary obstacles.
